Chuck Berry Nearly Passed Out In Live Performance However Resting In Good Condition
A recent event took place at a Berry live performance, which had followers of the rock legend afraid for his health. He is doing fine, though. Berry almost passed out in the course of a show in Chicago. He slouched over against a piano, and had to be escorted offstage. However, he is now in stable condition. The 84 year old living legend is relaxing at his home.
Seeing Berry come near to fainting during a concert at Chicago
ABC reports that Berry fell ill during a concern before getting to "Auld Lang Syne" at a live performance that was at the Congress Theater in Chicago on New Year’s. During the performance, Berry sat down at the electric piano onstage and started to slump over. Berry was helped offstage after he waved for help. He returned a half an hour later to reassure enthusiasts that he was fine, and even managed an abbreviated "duck walk," the dance step he made famous. The "duck walk" has been copied by a number of people, perhaps most famously Angus Young of AC/DC. Berry went home to St. Louis the next day as he had been feeling ill that whole evening.
A Berry concert reschedule
Yahoo News reports that the live performance is sold out for the rescheduled day of January 19. Berry is said to be active and in excellent health at 84 years of age, however he simply was fatigued. On New Year’s Eve, Berry performed 2 concerts. The next night, he flew to Chicago.
Nevertheless proceeding strong
Not many musicians have the longevity and influence of Berry. He has toured and recorded since the 1950s, and artists like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Ted Nugent, AC/DC and legions of others have claimed Berry as an influence. ”Johnny B. Goode” has one of the best guitar riffs ever known in it. Part of the bedrock of rock and roll includes other songs of his including “Roll Over Beethoven” and “Maybellene”. If there's a person who personifies the genre, Berry is as close as it gets.
